Super easy and flavorful chicken fajitas made quickly in the Air Fryer! The chicken is succulent and bursting with flavor and the peppers and onions are crunchy and delicious. A great dinner for busy mid-week nights!

I’ve made fajitas just about every way you can think of. Over the years, I’ve shared Instant Pot fajitas, baked chicken fajitas, cheesy chicken fajita casserole, chickpea fajitas, fajita rice, and even homemade fajita seasoning. So it only felt right to finally share my air fryer fajitas recipe too.
Making fajitas in the air fryer is quick, easy, and really convenient. I make these chicken fajitas all the time, along with my favorite air fryer shrimp fajitas. One of the things I love most about cooking in the air fryer is that there’s no need to heat up the whole oven. Everything cooks faster, and the chicken and peppers get those delicious crispy edges.
And my favorite part? Cleanup is easy.
The Ingredients

Complete list of ingredients and amounts can be found in the recipe card below.
- Chicken strips, mixed bell peppers, and onion (red or yellow).
- Vegetable oil – use any kind of oil that you have, I used canola in this recipe but often use vegetable oil, avocado oil, or sunflower oil.
- Fajita seasoning – I always make my own homemade seasoning mix. It tastes so much better than the store-bought mix, and it’s healthier and cheaper.
How to Make Chicken Fajitas in the Air Fryer?
Preheat the air fryer, then slice the chicken into even strips. Cut the peppers and onion slightly thick so they stay tender and don’t burn too quickly.
Toss everything with oil and fajita seasoning, then arrange it in the basket in a fairly even layer. Don’t overcrowd it, or the chicken and vegetables will steam instead of brown.
Shake the basket halfway through cooking, and cook until the chicken is done and the peppers and onions are tender with a few charred edges.

How to Know if Chicken Is Cooked
You can check if the chicken is done by cutting into a small piece with a fork and knife to see if it’s cooked through in the center.
But the best way to check is with a kitchen thermometer, as it ensures your chicken is safe to eat. Simply insert the thermometer into the center of a piece of chicken; the internal temperature should read 165°F (75°C). If it hasn’t reached that temperature, return it to the oven and cook for an additional 2–3 minutes, then check again.

Homemade Fajita Seasoning
I rarely buy store-bought fajita seasoning because it’s healthier, cheaper, and just as easy to make at home. If you check the label on a seasoning packet, you’ll often see a long list of ingredients that aren’t necessary. Making your own fajita seasoning at home is simple, and you probably already have all the spices you need. Check out my homemade fajita seasoning recipe to mix up a batch.
I use this blend for more than just fajitas. It’s also great for tacos and other chicken recipes. I keep it stored in a jar, so it’s always ready to use. It’s a great way to save time and money, especially on busy weeknights when you need dinner on the table fast.
How to Serve Air Fryer Chicken Fajitas?
These fajitas can also be served without tortillas as chicken fajita bowls, which are perfect for a keto or low-carb diet.
Top them with guacamole, pico de gallo, lime crema, pineapple salsa, lime wedges, fresh cilantro, or any of your favorite toppings.

My Go-To Air Fryer Tools
- An air fryer. This is the one I’m using right now and really loving. I upgraded after I took the photos for this recipe, and it’s been great for easy meals like these chicken fajitas. It cooks evenly and is really simple to use.
- This air fryer magnetic cheat sheet is very handy, it contains cooking time and temperature to cook 66 most common ingredients which I find very useful.
- I also really like these air fryer parchment liners, they’re not just for steaming and you can use them for cooking things like fries or chicken without worrying that the food will stick to the basket. They’re also quite cheap and there are 125 pcs in a package.

Air Fryer Chicken Fajitas
Equipment
Ingredients
- 2 chicken breasts boneless and skinless, cut into strips (around 1 pound/450g)
- 1 red bell pepper sliced into ½ inch slices
- 1 yellow bell pepper sliced into ½ inch slices
- 1 green bell pepper sliced into ½ inch slices
- 1 red onion sliced into wedges
- 3 tablespoons fajita seasoning
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Instructions
- Preheat the Air Fryer to 390°F (200°C).
- Drizzle oil over the chicken strips, and season with the fajita seasoning. Toss well and make sure that they're evenly coated with the seasoning. Add the veggies, and season well. Make sure that everything is well coated in fajita seasoning.
- Put everything in an Air Fryer basket. Air Fry at for 15 minutes, tossing halfway through.
- Serve with warmed tortillas, pico de gallo, avocado slices or guacamole.
Notes:
- These Air Fryer fajitas are low carb, keto, paleo, low fat, and whole30 compliant.
- Make sure not to overcrowd your Air Fryer basket. If you put layers and layers of chicken and veg, and the basket is overly filled then the food will “steam” rather than “roast” and char.

Fab recipe.
Won’t buy a packet mix or fry on the hob again.
Thank you 😊

Thank you!

The recipe looks great and Iwould like to make this with a couple of pork shoulder steaks instead of chicken breasts, what would the cooking time be if using pork?
Little Sunny Kitchen says
Hi Rob, I haven’t tried this with pork, but I think that the cooking time should be the same as long as the pieces are similar in size. You might consider cooking for a bit less time and checking on the pork, as it can easily overcook.

I made the fajita seasoning recipe and then put it on the fajitas. I used a lot of the seasoning and it was good! Very pleasantly surprised!

wowza. this is going into the rotation. I have 2 air fryers and used both so as not to overcrowd the basket. chicken and vegs were perfectly charred. also, i usedn1 pkg fajita seasoning instead of 3T fajita seasoning.

Having two air fryers sounds like a game changer! That’s brilliant. Thank you for trying my recipe and I’m so glad that you loved it!
