Key Ingredients for Turkey Sliders
Here’s what you need to make these tasty little turkey sandwiches:
Complete list of ingredients and amounts can be found in the recipe card below.
- Hawaiian Rolls: I like the classic sweet Hawaiian rolls in this recipe, but you can try the other varieties of slider-sized rolls too.
- Turkey: Deli sliced turkey meat is piled high on these sandwiches. Choose your favorite.
- Sliced Cheese: Havarti is delicious and melts wonderfully in these baked sandwiches, but you can also use mozzarella or any type of cheese you like.
- Mayonnaise: This adds moisture to the sandwich filling.
- A Buttery, Flavorful Sauce: Brush this all over the top of the rolls before baking! It’s a tasty mix of melted butter, Dijon mustard, brown sugar (or honey), dried minced onion, garlic granules, Worchestershire sauce, and poppyseeds, for crunch.
Tip!
King’s Hawaiian Rolls make the best little sandwiches, but if you can’t find them, use soft packaged dinner rolls instead!
How To Make The Best Turkey and Cheese Sliders
- Get Everything Ready: Preheat the oven to 350°F/180°C, and grease a 9×9 or 7×11 inch baking pan/sheet. In a small bowl, combine melted butter, Dijon mustard, brown sugar (or honey), poppy seeds, minced onion, garlic, and Worcestershire sauce, and set aside.
- Slice The Rolls: Slice the whole package of rolls in half to separate the tops from the bottoms, keeping the individual rolls attached to each other.
- Add Mayo: Add the bottom of the rolls to the prepared pan, and spread the mayonnaise on it.
- Layer Turkey and Cheese: Add half of the turkey, then all of the cheese, then the remaining turkey slices. Cover with the top of the rolls.
- Cover with Butter and Seasonings: Use a pastry brush to cover the tops of the rolls with the seasoning mixture. You can also just pour it on if you prefer.
- Bake: Cover the pan with foil, and bake for 15 minutes. Then remove the foil, and continue baking for 10 more minutes, or until golden brown. Serve right away!
Tip!
Keep a close eye on your sliders during the last few minutes of cooking. They’ll burn if you leave them in too long.
Recipe Tips
- Not into turkey? These sandwiches can be made with thinly sliced ham or deli-style chicken instead.
- A 7×11-inch baking pan is the perfect size for a package of King’s Hawaiian rolls. If you have a standard Pyrex baking dish, it’s probably the right size. You can also bake sliders in a 9×9 pan, you just need to arrange them differently. As a last resort, use a 9×13-inch pan. There will be more room around the edges, but they’ll still bake up beautifully.
- Switch up the cheese. Havarti goes really well with turkey, but you can use any type of cheese you like. Try Swiss, mozzarella, American, or cheddar cheese instead.
- Unsalted butter is best, as salted butter can throw off the flavor balance of the sauce.
- Use a serrated knife. Hawaiian rolls are very soft, so a regular straight knife will crush them. A serrated knife does the best job of slicing through them easily.
- To make the rolls super simple to slice, place the whole package in the freezer for about 15 minutes before you cut them
Storing Tips
These sliders are best when you eat them shortly after removing them from the oven.
If you have leftovers, store them in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven or air fryer, just until they’re warm again.
What To Serve With Turkey Sliders
Make a Meal with Them: Add a side dish or two and turkey sliders are perfect for dinner! I like to use the air fryer to make tater tots or french fries, and then make a simple tossed salad.
As an Appetizer: Tiny sandwiches work well as party food and are particularly fun for football parties or holiday get-togethers. Try serving them along with my tasty Ham and Cheese Roll Ups and easy Stromboli.
Kids love these Turkey Sliders, so serve this recipe at a birthday party or make up a pan of sliders for the kids’ table. Kids also love treats, so don’t forget to include some Oreo Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies or Rainbow Cupcakes for dessert!
FAQs
You can easily double this recipe to feed a larger group. As written this recipe makes 12 mini sandwiches, you can double the recipe to make 24 turkey sliders on a rimmed baking sheet, or double that again and make two sheets!
King’s Hawaiian is the most popular brand of Hawaiian rolls. These rolls are influenced by traditional Portuguese sweet bread and are in fact, very sweet. The added sugar along with the flaky, soft inside makes them irresistible, and somewhat addicting when paired with salty, savory fillings like turkey and cheese.
Layer the bread, turkey, and cheese in the prepared pan, and keep covered in the refrigerator for up to a day. when you’re ready to make the sliders, add the buttery seasoning mixture and bake as directed in the recipe.
Turkey and Cheese Sliders are so good, and I know your family is going to love this recipe as much as mine does! Be sure to save this recipe for the next time you need an easy meal or appetizer.

Me too! Thank you so much for the review, Linda.

A little confused. In one part you have dried minced garlic and in the other recipe card you have dried minced onions.
Little Sunny Kitchen says
Hi Samantha! Thank you for noticing that. It should be dried minced onions and garlic powder.
