Warm and cheesy turkey sliders made from leftover turkey meat. They’re bursting with flavor and so easy to make to feed a crowd! Perfect to make on the day after Thanksgiving or Christmas, or on a game day!
You know the feeling when you have lots of leftover turkey sitting in your fridge, and you don’t know what to do with it? I know the feeling, and I honestly never eat Thanksgiving or Christmas turkey on the next day as it is, I mean, I have to do something with it. And these warm and cheesy sliders are always a good idea!
I also make these sliders on game days, because, who doesn’t love cheesy sliders?! So I either use up leftover turkey, or cook a turkey breast specifically for this. Let’s jump into the recipe!
How to cook a turkey breast
You can roast, air fry, or pressure cook a turkey breast. All of these methods are great, but I recently cooked a turkey breast in the Instant Pot and it turned so tender and moist. So I shared my Instant Pot turkey breast recipe on the blog, if you haven’t seen it yet, then make sure to check it out.
Turkey sliders ingredients
- Slider rolls, or any soft bread rolls that you have available.
- Sliced turkey – leftovers or specifically made to make these sliders.
- Gravy, cranberry sauce or chutney.
- Grated mozzarella cheese, and butter.
- Sesame seeds, nigella seeds, or poppy seeds.
How to make cheesy turkey sliders
- Preheat your oven to 365f (180c).
- Carefully slice the bread rolls, and place them in your oven-proof pan or sheet pan.
- Top with shredded cooked turkey, gravy, and cranberry sauce.
- Sprinkle with grated mozzarella cheese, and decide whether you need to season with salt and pepper or not (this depends on the turkey that you’re using and the gravy) top with the slider rolls.
- Brush melted butter over the slider rolls, and sprinkle with sesame seeds, nigella seeds or poppy seeds.
- Bake in the oven for 15 minutes, or until the cheese has melted. Serve warm!
I add gravy and cranberry sauce to the turkey to make festive sliders that we usually serve on the next day after our Christmas or Thanksgiving dinner. Feel free to add mayo, and other vegetables if you prefer.
Do not skip the cheese! Use any type of melty cheese for these sliders. I usually go for grated mozzarella, it gives the slides the cheesy pizza effect once it’s all melted.
How to get golden and shiny bread rolls?
I recommend brushing the bread rolls with melted butter for that golden and shiny surface, but for extra shiny rolls, brush with an egg wash. This also helps the seeds stick to the rolls.
Another option is to brush the rolls with strong tea, or milk.
Top the sliders with sesame seeds, black sesame seeds or poppy seeds. You can also sprinkle some chili flakes if you like.
As for the bakeware. Use any ovenproof dish that you have or a sheet pan.
If you make cornbread, use the leftovers to make this delicious cornbread salad!
