Do you have a craving for some chicken wings, but forgot to take them out of the freezer? Great news, you can pull them out of the freezer and use this air fryer frozen chicken wings recipe! You’ll have deliciously juicy and crispy wings in just 25 minutes straight from the freezer.

In my house, wings pretty much go with everything! There’s a football game…wings. We are eating pizza…wings. I need an appetizer for a get together…wings! Not only are wings a great appetizer or side dish, but they are great as a main course too! I mean who doesn’t love chicken wings?!

This recipe is fabulous for busy days where you forgot to pull something out for dinner, but it’s also great for social gatherings such as potlucks, family get-togethers, cookouts, and the Super Bowl!

Additionally, chicken wings are so versatile that they can be served with a variety of different sides including mac and cheese, celery sticks, coleslaw, and oven-baked fries.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

I personally love chicken wings, and if you do too, you’ll definitely love this recipe. But, if you aren’t convinced, here are 3 more reasons you will love it!

  1. You don’t have to remember to thaw your wings. Sometimes things just slip our minds and we are scrambling to figure out what to make for dinner. Well, with this recipe, you can always make it work. Remember, these are frozen chicken wings in the Air Fryer as it’s as simple as it sounds.
  2. Choose your own sauce. Instead of a recipe with a bunch of ingredients and seasoning, you just simply make your wings and add your own sauce. Just like Buffalo Wild Wings.
  3. They are great for anything. Whether you forgot to pull dinner out or you need a dish to take to a cookout in a hurry, these chicken wings can make everything in your life easier.

Air Fryer Frozen Chicken Wings Ingredients

Usually, I have a little discussion about all the fabulous ingredients I use, but for this recipe, there’s no ingredient list! That’s right, all you need is 1 pound of frozen chicken wings. You can use flats or drums or both.

What Sauce Can I Use?

I served my air fryer frozen chicken wings with a deliciously sweet chili sauce. However, what’s great about this recipe is that the wings are plain and can be combined with any sauce you prefer. If you like Buffalo Wild Wings Sauces, here’s a list of sauces you can try:

  • Homemade Buffalo Wing Sauce
  • Honey BBQ
  • Parm Garlic
  • Mango Habanero
  • Lemon Pepper Sauce

Don’t forget to make up a batch of homemade blue cheese dressing to dip your wings in too!

What Size Wings Should I Use?

Choosing the size of wings depends on how many batches you want to make. Chicken wings should be in a single layer in your basket. The bigger the wings, the less that will fit in each batch. I like to make jumbo wings if I am making it as a dinner option, and regular sized wings if I am making them as an appetizer.

How to Store Leftover Air Fryer Frozen Chicken?

We rarely have leftovers in my house because these wings are just too darn delicious. However, if you do have leftovers, you can store your chicken wings in an airtight container in the fridge for 1 to 3 days.

How to Make Frozen Air Fryer Chicken Wings

I prefer to use the Cosori Air Fryer it’s my favorite Air Fryer that I’ve owned for a while now, and the reason why I love it is that it cooks the food so evenly and it comes with a large square basket that can fit a lot of food. But, of course, you can use any air fryer you have to make this recipe. Just follow the steps below:

Step 1: Preheat the Air Fryer

First, preheat your Air Fryer to 390°F (200°C).

Step 2: Put the Wings in the Basket

Next, pull those wings out of the freezer and place them in the air fryer basket. Be sure you put them in a single layer and not on top of each other. You may have to do several batches.

Step 3: Cook the Wings

Then, you will cook your wings for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, open the air fryer and flip the wings. Cook the wings for an additional 10 minutes. Spray the wings with cooking spray and cook for another 5 minutes. This will help the wings crisp up.

Step 4: Serve and Enjoy

Coat your wings with your favorite wing sauce, or sprinkle with seasonings. Serve and enjoy!

Air Fryer Frozen Chicken Tips and Tricks

The biggest trick to making chicken wings is using your air fryer. They come out juicy and crispy every single time! But, here’s a few other tips and tricks to keep in mind:

  1. Don’t skip the cooking spray. Spraying the wings with cooking spray and allowing them that additional 5 minutes of cooking time is what crisps up your wings.
  2. Add sauce in the last 5 minutes. If you like your sauce caramelized on your wings, you can add the sauce in the last 5 minutes of cooking.
  3. Coat in seasonings before cooking. If you aren’t using a sauce, you can coat your chicken in your favorite seasonings for a flavorfully crisp wing.

Best wing we have ever had. I was a bit worried about starting from frozen, but they came out perfect. I did add another 5 minutes in the air fryer after I tossed them in the Buffalo sauce, but that just made the sauce crispy and not drippy. Delicious. Thanks so much for the recipe.
