Mexican Fruit Salad is a fun and refreshing tropical fruit salad dressed with honey and lime and seasoned with chili lime seasoning. An easy sweet and savory fruit salad that’s perfect for potlucks, and BBQs.
If you’re looking for a refreshing summer dessert that is also healthy, try this delicious Mexican fruit salad. It’s made with LOTS of fruit, and a simple dressing of fresh lime juice and a touch of honey. You can use any fruit you like, but I usually go for tropical fruit (depending on what I have available) such as pineapple, mango, watermelon, melon, cantaloupe, and papaya.
If you don’t love chili lime seasoning (tajin), you can totally skip it, but it’s what makes this salad special!

The Ingredients
Here’s what you need to make this Mexican fruit salad:
Complete list of ingredients and amounts can be found in the recipe card below.
- Fruit: Go for watermelon, fresh or canned and drained pineapple, melon, papaya, mango, kiwi, berries, peach, grapes, or cantaloupe. Choose your favorites!
- For the dressing: Lime and honey if desired, and garnish with chili lime seasoning (tajin!).
How To Make Mexican Fruit Salad
- Peel and cut fruits into even size pieces. You can also use a melon baller for things like melon, watermelon, or cantaloupe and get perfect balls of fruit.
- Combine all fruit in a large bowl, add lime juice and honey if using, and give everything a stir.
- Garnish with tajin seasoning and fresh mint leaves (optional).
Tip!
Make sure that the cutting board that you’re using is clean and does not smell of garlic, onion, or any other vegetable or food as that will ruin your fruit salad.
Recipe Tips
- Buy Fresh Fruit in Season: Fresh fruit has the best flavor when it’s in season! The best time to make this salad is in the summer when watermelons and melons taste great!
- Ripe Fruit: Taste your fruit before adding it to your salad. Watermelon has to be sweet, look for melons that are fragrant and flavorful, and if your pineapple is still underripe, give it a day or 2 to ripen before slicing.
- Seedless Watermelon: If you have a choice, choose a seedless watermelon at the grocery store. It’s much easier to eat especially when it’s added to a fruit salad.
- Serve on the Same Day: Watermelon is 90% water and if you leave it in the fridge for over 24 hours, it will change its texture and all of your fruit will taste like watermelon. So I recommend serving this fruit salad on the same day when you make it.
- Serve in a Pineapple: This is optional but makes an impressive presentation. Hollow out a pineapple half, cut the flesh for the salad and keep the hollowed-out pineapple to use as a bowl.
