Frozen strawberries, fresh lime juice, simple syrup, and a splash of light rum are blended into a frosty, sweet-tart strawberry daiquiri that chills you fast and pours easily for any summer crowd.

Ingredient Notes
Complete list of ingredients and amounts can be found in the recipe card below.
- Strawberries: A mix of fresh and frozen strawberries makes the ideal slushy cocktail. If you have only frozen strawberries, no worries. Your daiquiri will have a slightly different texture but will still be delicious. And the best part? No ice cubes are needed! When strawberries are on sale, I blend up this classic, but on days I’m craving something tropical, I make my Frozen Mango Daiquiri instead.
- Fresh lime: The tangy citrus balances out the sweetness of the strawberries.
- Simple syrup: This is just sugar and water heated until the sugar dissolves. This syrup gives your cocktail a silky smooth texture, without any gritty sugar crystals.
- Rum: Go for a light or white rum. I usually use Bacardi, as it’s a popular and affordable choice for daiquiris. Other good alternatives are Havana Club or Cana Brava.
Choosing the Right Rum
The rum you choose can significantly impact the flavor of your strawberry daiquiri. Below are a few options:
- Light Rum: Also known as white or silver rum, it’s generally subtle and slightly sweet so the strawberry-lime flavor stays front-and-center.
- Gold Rum: This type of rum has been aged, which gives it a richer, deeper flavor. It can add an interesting complexity to your daiquiri.
- Spiced Rum: Spiced rum offers a blend of spices, including vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg. It can create a warm contrast to the refreshing strawberry and lime.
Remember, while rum plays an important role in your daiquiri, the best rum is the one you enjoy most!

Strawberry Daiquiri
Recipe Video
Equipment
- Blender capable of crushing ice
- 2 cocktail glasses chilled
Ingredients
- 8 ounces (225 g) frozen strawberries
- 6 ounces (170 g) fresh strawberries hulled
- 1 ounce (30 ml) simple syrup see Notes
- 2 ounces (60 ml) freshly squeezed lime juice about 2 limes
- 5 ounces (150 ml) white rum
Instructions
- Add the frozen strawberries, fresh strawberries, simple syrup, lime juice, and white rum to the blender.
- Blend until the mixture is smooth and slushy, 30-60 seconds.
- If too thick to pour, blend in 1 tablespoon cold water.
- Divide the daiquiri between two chilled glasses and serve immediately.
Notes:
- Simple syrup: Gently heat equal parts granulated sugar and water, stirring until the sugar has dissolved. Cool completely before using.
- For a stronger drink, blend in up to 1 additional ounce (30 ml) of rum.
- Alcohol-free version: Replace the rum with apple, pineapple, or white grape juice. Garnish with whole strawberries or lime wheels for a polished look.
- No Blender method: Muddle the strawberries, then shake all ingredients with crushed ice in a cocktail shaker, the drink won’t be slushy but remains flavorful.
- Make-ahead: Blend the daiquiri, pour into a freezer-safe bag, and freeze for up to 1 week. Knead the bag to break up ice crystals before serving.

Strawberry Daiquiri Variations
Want to spice up your classic strawberry daiquiri? Here are a few twists:
- Spicy Strawberry Daiquiri: Add a small jalapeño (remove the seeds if you prefer it less spicy) to the blender for a fiery kick.
- Strawberry Basil Daiquiri: Add a handful of fresh basil leaves for a refreshing herbal note.
- Strawberry Daiquiri Float: Only use fresh strawberries, then top your finished daiquiri with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a sweet, creamy treat.
- Strawberry Daiquiri Punch: Multiply the ingredients by the number of guests, mix in a large punch bowl, and let everyone serve themselves. This is great for parties.
Serving Tips
- Glassware: Daiquiris are traditionally served in stemmed glasses, such as martini or hurricane glasses. But feel free to use whatever you like!
- Garnishes: Add a slice of lime, a whole strawberry, or even a little umbrella to your glass for a fun look.
- Rim Sugar: Rub a lime wedge around the rim of the glass, then dip it in sugar for a sweet, sparkly touch.
- Chilled Glasses: Place your glasses in the fridge or freezer before serving. This helps keep your daiquiri cold longer.
K says
This was my first attempt at making a strawberry daiquiri without a pre-mix. In spite of not blending the strawberries long enough, it was very good. It was initially too limey for me, so I added more strawberries and rum, of course, rum.
