Whether you’re hosting a party or just enjoying the day, this shake adds a special touch to your St. Paddy’s Day festivities.

St. Patrick’s Day is even more fun when everyone gets a special shake to enjoy. For the adults, we’ve got the Boozy Oreo Shamrock Shake. It mixes cool mint and chocolate with a splash of Irish cream and whisky so it’s not overpowering. And for the kids, there’s a tasty shake just like the McDonald’s Shamrock Shake. It’s creamy, minty, and just right for them.

Also, if mint and chocolate are your thing, there are some awesome treats you can try. Think about making things like Mint Chocolate Lasagna, Mint Oreo Ice Cream, and Mint Chocolate Puppy Chow for a super fun St. Patrick’s Day. Everyone’s going to love these!

Ingredients Needed

Ingredients needed to make Boozy Oreo Shamrock Shake

Complete list of ingredients and amounts can be found in the recipe card below.

  • Vanilla Ice Cream: The base of the shake, giving it a creamy texture. Choose a good quality vanilla ice cream for the best flavor. If you’re lactose intolerant, you can use lactose-free ice cream or a dairy-free alternative like almond or coconut milk ice cream.
  • Irish Cream Liqueur: Adds a unique Irish flavor to the shake. If you prefer a non-alcoholic version, you can use Irish cream flavored syrup instead (like Torani).
  • Vanilla Whisky: Gives an extra kick and depth of flavor. You can substitute it with regular whisky or omit it for a non-alcoholic shake.
  • Mint Oreos: These add a minty chocolate crunch. You can use regular Oreos and a bit more peppermint extract if mint Oreos aren’t available.
  • Peppermint Extract: Not mint extract – this gives the shake its minty flavor. Use in moderation as it’s quite strong.
  • Green Food Coloring: This is optional, just for the festive green color.
  • Whipped Cream: For the topping. You can use store-bought or homemade.
  • Hot Fudge: Used for drizzling inside the glass for extra chocolate flavor.

How To Make Boozy Oreo Shamrock Shake

  1. Prepare the Glass: Start by drizzling hot fudge inside your serving glass. This adds a nice chocolatey touch to your shake. Set the glass aside.
  1. Blend the Base: In a blender, combine vanilla ice cream, Irish cream liqueur, and vanilla whisky. Blend these together until you get a smooth consistency.
  2. Add Flavor and Crunch: Next, add in the peppermint extract and Mint Oreos to the blender. Blend again until everything is well mixed.
  3. Color it Green: If you’re using green food coloring, add it in now. Blend until you achieve your desired shade of green. This step is all about getting that festive St. Patrick’s Day look.
  4. Serve with Toppings: Pour the blended shake into your prepared glass. Then, top it off with whipped cream for a creamy finish. You can also add some crushed Mint Oreos and a maraschino cherry for decoration and extra flavor.

Recipe Tips

  • Chill Your Glass: Before serving, chill your glass in the freezer for about 10-15 minutes. This helps keep your shake cold and delicious for longer.
  • Quality Ingredients: The better the quality of your vanilla ice cream and Irish cream liqueur, the better your shake will taste.
  • Adjust the Alcohol: If you prefer a stronger or milder alcoholic flavor, feel free to adjust the amount of Irish cream liqueur and vanilla whisky.
  • Balance the Mint Flavor: Peppermint extract can be quite strong. Start with a little and taste as you go. You can always add more, but you can’t take it out once it’s in.
  • Food Coloring is Optional: The green food coloring is just for looks, so if you’re not into food dyes, feel free to skip it. The shake will taste just as good without it.
  • Serve Immediately: To enjoy the best texture and temperature, serve the shake right after making it. If you wait too long, it might start to melt and lose its creamy consistency.
  • Non-Alcoholic Version: For a kid-friendly version, simply leave out the alcohol and use Irish cream flavored syrup or extra vanilla extract instead.
  • Clean Your Blender Right Away: To avoid a sticky mess, rinse your blender immediately after use. This makes cleanup much easier.
