In a large mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sour cream, and shredded cheddar cheese.
Add the precooked bacon bits and slivered almonds, and mix in the sliced green onions.
Season with garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Use a spatula to mix well, ensuring all ingredients are evenly distributed.
Taste the mixture and add a pinch of salt if needed.
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least one hour to allow the flavors to meld. Serve with Ritz crackers, other crackers, or veggie sticks.
- Try toasting the almonds. It's not entirely necessary, but for some extra flavor, toast the nuts in a dry skillet for a few minutes. Let them cool before adding them to the dip.
- Shred your own cheese. Pre-shredded cheddar cheese has starches added to keep it from clumping together. This can take away from the flavor and texture of the cheese. Plus, it's less expensive to buy cheese in a block and grate it yourself!
- Add some spice! A pinch of cayenne pepper will add a delicious kick of flavor.
- Make it pretty. Set aside some bacon, cheese, and green onions so that you can sprinkle them on top of your million dollar dip before serving it.
- Storage: Wrap the dip tightly with plastic wrap or transfer it to an airtight container. It will stay in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
