Total Time 45 minutes

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 2 cups brown rice
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil

Instructions

  • Rinse and drain the rice in a colander, and it’s ready to go in the Instant Pot.
  • Add 1 tsp of vegetable oil just to grease the bottom of the pot. This will prevent any rice from sticking to the bottom.
  • Cover with water. The ratio is 1:1
  • Add a pinch of salt, quickly stir the rice.
  • Cover with the lid. Press on MANUAL or PRESSURE COOK on high, and set the timer at 25 minutes.
  • Allow the Instant Pot to come to pressure (it will take about 10 minutes) and cook for 25 minutes, then naturally release the steam. Fluff with a fork, and serve.

Notes

  • Always rinse the rice with cold water! Do not skip this step to avoid getting mushy rice.
  • The ratio of rice to liquid in the Instant Pot is always 1:1.
  • If using a 6 quart IP, make a minimum of 1 cup of rice. If you're using 8 quart IP, then make a minimum of 1.5 cups of rice.
  • You can use vegetable stock instead of water for extra flavor.
