Equipment

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds (900 g) chicken wings separated into drumettes and wingettes
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) light olive oil or avocado oil
  • teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  • Pat the chicken wings dry thoroughly with paper towels to help them crisp up.
  • In a large bowl, drizzle the wings with olive oil. Add smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Toss until evenly coated.
  • If using, place a parchment liner in the air fryer basket. Arrange the wings in a single layer, ensuring they are not overlapping.
  • Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 9 minutes. Flip the wings and cook for another 9 minutes. If the wings aren’t crispy enough, air fry for an additional 2 minutes. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Use a Liner. You can buy parchment paper liners that are cut specifically to fit the bottom of your air fryer. These will have holes in them to let air through. While this is optional, I find that it makes cleaning the air fryer much easier.
  • Cook in a Single Layer. Be sure that the wings are not touching each other at all. Each piece should have some room around it so that the hot air can circulate freely and evenly. If your wings don't all fit in the basket, cook them in two batches.
  • Adjust as Needed. All air fryers cook a bit differently, and chicken wings come in different sizes. If you need to, add extra cooking time to get the wings to the perfect crispy doneness. On average, 2 pounds or 1kg of wings will cook in 20 minutes in the air fryer.
  • Serve Right Away. If you plan on adding wing sauce or barbecue sauce to your wings, toss the wings in the sauce while they're still hot.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
  • To reheat the chicken wings in the Air Fryer, put them back in the air fryer basket, and reheat at 400°F/200°C for 5 minutes or until they're heated through.
  • To cook wings from frozen, you will need to increase the cooking time by at least 5 minutes.
