Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • ½ cup diced yellow onion
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 24 dinner rolls or Hawaiian sweet rolls do not separate
  • 9 slices cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds or everything bagel seasoning

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F/180°C. Grease a rimmed baking sheet.
  • Heat a skillet over medium high heat, heat oil and add onion and ground beef breaking it up with a wooden spoon until it’s no longer pink. Drain fat if it produces a lot of grease.
  • Add Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, salt and pepper.
  • Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  • Season with salt and pepper if needed, and remove from heat.
  • Cut the rolls in half, place the bottom half on the prepared baking sheet, and layer the meat mixture, followed by the cheese slices.
  • Place the top half of rolls, brush with melted butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  • Bake for 15 minutes or until the rolls are golden, and the cheese has melted.

Notes

  • Add-ins: Add sliced dill pickles, diced onion, and diced tomato in between the meat and the cheese. Or, add a bit of bbq sauce or ketchup to the meat to add more familiar cheeseburger flavors. Crumbled bacon would be a welcome addition too!
  • Toppings: Gently pull the top off of the sliders after they cook and add lettuce and mayo before serving.
  • Dips: Serve with a delicious dipping sauce, like Raising Cane’s Sauce, or Ranch Dressing.
