Ingredients

  • 32 ounces (900 g) frozen tater tots
  • 1 pound (450 g) ground beef 80/20
  • 1 medium yellow onion diced
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 cup (240 ml) milk whole or 2%
  • 10.5 ounces (300 g) canned cream of mushroom soup or cream of chicken soup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 cup (150 g) frozen mixed vegetables - corn, carrots, peas, green beans
  • 2 cups (240 g) cheddar cheese shredded

Instructions

  • Spray the bottom of a crockpot with nonstick cooking spray. Arrange half of the frozen tater tots in the crockpot.
  • In a skillet, cook ground beef and onion, season with salt and pepper, and cook until the beef is no longer pink. Drain grease and add the meat to a mixing bowl.
  • To the same bowl, add milk, condensed soup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, frozen mixed vegetables, and half of the cheddar cheese. Give everything a mix.
  • Add the mixture to the crockpot, and layer over the tater tots. Then sprinkle on the remaining cheese, and top with the rest of the tater tots.
  • Cover and cook on high for 3-4 hours, or on low for 6-8 hours.

Notes

  • Feel free to sprinkle with even more cheese before serving
  • Instead of frozen mixed veggies, you can make this with frozen green beans, frozen peas, or any blend of frozen veggies you like!
  • This recipe also works with canned vegetables or fresh chopped veggies.
  • Ground turkey or any other type of ground meat can be used in place of beef.
  • Tasty additions to this dish can include cooked bacon, tangy sour cream, a can of Rotel, or sauteed mushrooms. Have fun making this recipe your own!
  • Avoid opening the lid while the casserole is cooking. There's really no reason to, and you'll be letting out heat, causing the dish to need more time to cook.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days, or freeze for up to 2 months.
