A 5 stars hotel where you can definitely feel the luxury!
For a great 48-hour Bangkok itinerary read this post.
Last month, my partner and I visited Bangkok and stayed at the Shangri-La Bangkok hotel. After reading so many positive reviews on Tripadvisor, we chose to stay at the Shangri La during our stay in Bangkok before heading to Pattaya. And our stay there was truly unforgettable!
SHANGRI LA HOTEL IN BANGKOK
As we arrived in Bangkok, we took a taxi and headed to our hotel. The hotel is situated by the Chao Phraya river, and it took us about 35 minutes to get to the Shangri La hotel.
There are 2 buildings for the hotel, we were greeted in the first lobby with a warm smile and cold glass of lemongrass tea and beautiful flower bands, and then we were taken to the other part of the hotel where we were staying. The lobby was massive and grand, and the staff were very attentive to us.
Check in was quite easy, the lady that checked us in was really lovely, she gave us all the information that we needed, and even gave my partner a bouquet with 3 red roses to give to me (How sweet is that?).Check-in went was quick and easy and then we were led to our room.
The lobby was filled with beautiful Orchids and fresh lotuses, everything was beautiful and perfect. It’s one of these lobbies where you can feel the luxury of the hotel, and this gives you a good feeling about the room before seeing it.
And as I’m a huge fan of Orchids, I was amazed by the different types and colours of the orchids that we saw in the lobby.
The room that we booked was a Deluxe King room with river view overlooking the Chao Phraya river.
The room was 36 square meters big, with air conditioning and a bathtub. It was quite spacious and we loved the style of the furniture. The most important part was the super comfortable bed, it was king sized with crisp smooth white cotton bedding and extra thread count. A perfect light weighted duvet, along with comfortable and soft pillows.
The room view was stunning as it was overlooking the magnificent Chao Phraya river. There’s a little cosy couch by the window, where you can just sit and admire the beauty of the view. The window is secured and does not open, which is perfectly fine as the room was air-conditioned.
And if you look down from the window, you would be able to see Shangri La’s free-form outdoor swimming pool with lush tropical greenery all around.
It’s one of these swimming pools where you feel that you’re staying in a resort that is somewhere far away from the city! And especially that it’s surrounded by beautiful tropical greenery. You will find many blooming flowers, and that includes plumerias, lotuses, and orchids!
There are little gardens around the pool that you can visit, in the picture above is one of them.
Breakfast was superb! The buffet offered a wide range of tasty dishes. We were amazed by how fresh the food was, and how many different things they served. It was mainly Thai and Western food, a huge variety of fresh fruits, freshly squeezed smoothies, an ice cream stand, wonderful omelettes, even grilled salmon, fresh sushi, and what not!
You have the option to either enjoy your breakfast indoors or outdoors, we tried both places and both were equally wonderful! We also loved the fact that you can sit by the river, and enjoy your food with the beautiful view.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at Shangri La hotel in Bangkok, and would definitely visit again in the future!
