As a teenager I never really suffered from acne. But during that time of month, I occasionally got a spot or 2 somewhere around my chin. Growing up, I noticed that stress reflected very clearly on my skin. Whenever I went through a tough time, or was put under a lot of pressure by university, work or personal issues a few spots popped on my face.
Since I’m not someone who is used to getting spots as I grew up, it really upset me when I started getting huge spots on my cheeks that ended up as scars in the past few years. I’ve tried dealing with my acne by using different face creams, oils, natural masks and what not. None of these products seemed to effectively work and clear my face up. But this is what really worked for me:
- I started drinking more water! I’m one of these people who forget to drink water especially when I’m having a busy day. Drinking 8 glasses of water daily is essential for a healthy skin. From the beginning of this year, I started drinking more water and I’ve noticed that my skin became less dry, and my face started clearing up.
- I started using a face brush! I only came across face brushes very recently. To be honest with you, I never even knew that they existed. But face brushes do wonders to your skin! They are small brushes that work by producing gentle vibrations for a deep cleanse for the face. They are used with a facial cleanser and only take a minute to wash the face. I love wearing make up and I apply foundation almost every day, so washing my face with a face brush helps all of my pores to clear up and breathe after a long day being covered in make up. For face brushes, I recommend Magnitone Barefaced! facial cleanse brush RRP £70. This brush is now a part of my daily skincare routine. It is gentle on the skin but very effective. Natalia uses Mary Kay Skinvigorate Cleansing Brush RRP £35, and said that it improved the appearance of her skin pretty quickly and gave her skin that healthy glow. To use the cleansing brush, we use Mary Kay TimeWise 3-1 cleanser RRP £20.
- I changed my foundation! I think that this was the main reason that my face finally managed to heal from acne. I’ve always used liquid foundations, and as I really love high coverage I normally apply a lot of product on my face. I was recently introduced to BareMinerals loose powder foundation that worked wonders for me! It’s so light, it feels natural and definitely allows the skin breathe. The brand advertises this foundation as make up that you can actually sleep in. It’s a very light product that still gives you that fine coverage, with a natural and healthy glow but without harming your skin. It made such a huge difference to me, as the liquid foundation that I’ve been using felt a bit too heavy and oily for my skin that possibly made my skin break out.
